At the PA we use our own broadcast-quality radio and TV studio, which gives you a highly realistic experience of being in the media spotlight and performing under pressure.

    Why do it? Learn how to perform with complete confidence in press, radio and TV interviews, at press conferences and in other interactions with journalists.

    Who’s it for? Senior executives and spokespeople at beginner, intermediate or advanced levels.

    What the course covers You’ll carry out five press, radio and TV practical exercises that have been designed from scratch to test and enhance existing skills and to develop new ones. The theory part of the training covers key messages, techniques for controlling an interview and handling tricky questions, voice coaching and body language.

    Why do it? Refresh your skills and build on your previous media training experience.

    Who’s it for? Senior executives and spokespeople who have already attended TNR’s Full Media Training course (or similar).

    What the course covers You’ll carry out three press, radio and TV exercises that have been designed from scratch to test and enhance existing skills and to develop new ones. The theory part of the training covers key messages, techniques for controlling an interview and handling tricky questions, voice coaching and body language.

    Why do it? Learn how to enhance your TV interview technique and come away with the skills and confidence to go on-air for real.

    Who’s it for? Senior executives and spokespeople.

    What the course covers You’ll get loads of studio time to get you get used to both the technical kit (earpiece, lighting, monitor) and difficult questioning while live on TV. Exercises focus on down-the-line and studio skills. We record all the interviews and play them back with a thorough debrief. The course also covers the importance of preparation and key messages.

    Our specialist Journalist Media Trainers are working journalists who have covered every kind of story for national and international news organisations, including the BBC, ITN, Al Jazeera, News International and many others.

    How long is the workshop?

    The workshop runs from 9.30am to 3.30pm at the Press Association in Central London. There are ten places on each workshop but larger groups can be accommodated, if required.

    What does the workshop cover?

    It combines theory and practical elements, including an on-camera TV interview and critique, so that delegates leave the course with the essential skills for performing confidently in media interviews.

    What the course covers The changing media landscape, working with TV crews on your own site, constructing effective messages, handling tricky questions, briefing a spokesperson, rehearsing a spokesperson, giving feedback and role play. You’ll also do an on-camera TV sound bite exercise.
