Staff Spotlight: Meet Amanda Poole-Connor, Managing Director at TNR …

What do you love about working at TNR?

I’ve been at TNR for 15 years this year which means that (not only am I very old) I have seen TNR go through some pretty big changes, from being an independent Broadcast PR agency with 4 staff, to the current creative content agency that is part of the UK’s leading news agency.  I love this dynamic – the ever changing landscape can be scary but it’s also thrilling, and keeps us on our toes and our brains forever in gear.  The content we produce now still has the quality TNR has always been renowned for, but is so different in its feel, creativity, style and reach, and that is also really exciting.  Finally, the team are such a fantastic bunch of hard working, creative, dedicated talent, they make coming into work each day a genuinely inspirational experience.

What does your role involve in a nutshell?

As Managing Director I am involved in all aspects of the business, from consulting with clients, searching for new talent (which as a growing agency we do a lot of!), working on TNR’s strategy, keeping up to date with industry trends, collaborating with my peers and colleagues at PA and lots of number crunching! Every now and then I dust off my retired Producer boots and run a shoot which ensures I keep my head in the game.

What was 2016 like for the business?

2016 was an incredible year for TNR.  We grew agency revenues by 31% and worked on some fantastic award winning projects for our growing list of amazing clients such as Museum of London, Direct Line and English Heritage.

What do the coming months look like for you?

Well if you think 2016 was good, watch out for 2017 – we have some hard work ahead as we have some very exciting plans for 2017 in the creative content sector.  Watch this space!

What do you spend most of your time doing when you’re not at work?

When I’m not working, or battling with my commute on Southern Rail,  I enjoy spending time with my family and friends at home in the Surrey Hills.  With two young children I don’t have too much time to myself, but when I do I love to cook, eat, and drink white burgundy.  As an airline pilot’s daughter, I am passionate about travelling and drag the family off skiing or to the beach as many times as I can get away with.  What you won’t find me doing is shopping – I genuinely can’t stand it!
